LAWRENCEVILLE—Maurice Williams of the Rider University baseball team was named the New Jersey College Baseball Association Player of the Week for all games played the first week of March.
A junior outfielder from Ocean (Monmouth Regional), Williams collected three hits and a walk and scored two runs in Rider’s 6-2 win at the University of Delaware on March 5.
Williams singled and scored in the fifth inning to give Rider a 4-1 lead, and singled and scored in the seventh inning to give the Broncs a 5-1 lead.
Williams is now batting .417 on the season and enters the three-game series at Samford this weekend with 95 career hits.
The Broncs began the season 6-2, Rider’s best start since the 1991 season began 12-1-1 and finished 32-16 in the NCAA Northeast Regional.
